BACKGROUND

Arrived in Portugal 200+ years ago (eventually in the XVIII century) and became a variant of the Italian "Tressette" by being adapted by the Portuguese players who made it their own.

An example of such adaptation is the use of the word "apultana" (the name we give to the powerful set of 3, 2 and Ace of the same suit). "Apultana" is derived from the Italian word "Napolitana".
